Quadron is a Danish duo formed by Coco ( the singer) and Robin.Their music is a smart mix of Jazz,Motown soul, modern soul.The Danish duo calls it “electronic soul”.
Anyway I got the album yesterday and since then I’m on it ( even now !! ). I love, adore every single song on their debut album self titled “Quadron”. It’s smooth, ease your mind, it’s just gggrreeaaaaaatttttt!!!
The duo says that they want to provide an “alternative to US R&B” but what they offer us is simply food for the soul.7

In 2009 Laura Izibor had opened for Maxwell , India Arie, Aretha Franklin and John Legend.In 2009, Laura Izibor has released her first album “Let The Truth Be Told”.In 2009, Laura Izibor has been nominated for a MOBO Awards and a Soul Train Award…2009 has been a very good year for Laura Izibor, and I’m sure the future will be better!
KRISTYNA MYLES
I’ve been introduced to Kristyna Myles by a very good friend of mine and I had the chance to see her perform live ( twice :) she even dedicated me a song ha! )
Singer/songwriter from Manchester, Kristyna Myles is “soulful”.As I was able to see her live, I can testify that it’s a real pleasure to hear her voice and her songs are great.Her repertoire is Soul, Pop, Jazz and even Gospel.She,alongside other artists and members of the 'Desire To Worship God' gospel group,has been nominated for a 2009 MOBO Award for “Best Gospel Act”.She is currently recording her first album and I can’t wait to see her again.

OCEANA
Her single “ Cry cry” was the song of my summer.The German singer first album “Love supply” is just a pleasure for the ears and for the soul, with different influences (Pop,Reggae,Soul).Once you start listening to it, you can’t stop. Her voice just fits her style in a perfect way.
German Soul music already had Ayo, Joy Denalane or Nneka , now here comes Oceana and she’s just as talented as the others

PALOMA FAITH
British Soul certainly had some really good surprises this year.This one of my best discoveries of this year.
Ms Faith is exquisite and her debut album is great.I like her burlesque style and I think we have here a new Pop/Soul icon.

I discovered this English singer/songwriter with a video of her cover of Kings Of Leon “ Use somebody".
Her debut album “Turn It Up” was released in September this year featuring her first single “Mama Do” .
She already won MTV Europe Music Awards and I think we’re going to hear more about her…

VV BROWN
About VV Brown I heard/read many things “retro-style”, “Retro R&B”, “Fifties doo-wop with modern pop and indie attitude”, “Eighties-flavored Pop” but all I know is that I really enjoy listening to her debut Album “Travelling like the light”.
She has a strong voice , not the Amy or the Duffy type but strong enough to please you and her style is very personal.If you don’t know her then do it now!!!!!

So Cinderella had her fairy-godmother and Dionne has Amy Winehouse ( Who got the best godmother ?? ;) ). Well godmother or not, that 13 year old old is talented.And if she sings like that at the age of 13 I wonder what will she sounds like at the age of Amy.
Her debut album “Introducing Dionne Bromfield” ( first album of Amy Winehouse’s label ) sounds so Motown and her voice is GREAT!!!!

My musical trip this year has been rich in discoveries.Some of these artists deserve a better and wider media coverage and some already has it.

My favorite, I have nothing but L-O-V-E for him!!! This Californian folk/soul singer , “son of a preacher man” is my #1 discovery of 2009.I love his songs his lyrics and I really think he deserves a wider media coverage.His talent deserves to be known.His songs are refreshing .Sometimes I find myself singing the songs or humming them without noticing i'm doing it.It took me a while to figure out what was my favorite song and I still don’t have one favorite!!With his life philosophy comes great lyrics and with his voice comes great songs.His EP is available on Itunes and Amazon and you really should have it !!!!! ( I’m so happy I have a physical copy !!! lol ) Apart from being a great artist he’s also a so nice person. I got to admit that one of my fantasy is Jason Damato singing and playing guitar +beach+fire camp (lol a girl can dream!!).Watch the videos and you’ll understand why I love him so much !!!

NOISETTES
At this point of 2009 you should have heard about Noisettes.If not where have you been ??!!!!
The second album “ Wild Young Hearts” of this London band has been released on April 2009 and has been on heavy rotation so far .I totally heart the style of the singer Shingai Shoniwa.Her voice got me the first time I heard the band perform and since then I wonder why they get so much attention worldwide only now .

This is the debut album of Amy Winehouse's God daughter and this is a real promising one from what I've heard so far. I can't deny that the 13 year old girl has talent ( maybe more than some of today's so called artists ). I'm curious to hear what she will sound like in 10 years i know i'm being impatient and rushing things but I'm sure it can only be better and better but so far a 13 year old singing vintage soul music this way that's already quite impressive. One thing is sure I gotta have this album !!
